Do not give out personal information such as address (home or workplace) or phone number in public places such as posting on forums or in your profile. No members of the Web Cadet Corps will request these details (with the exception of general demographic details, such as town, country etc, which will always be optional).
Do not open emails with attachments from people you don't know as these could potentially carry viruses or other harmful programs.
As a general rule, do not meet other members offline as it is very easy for people to pretend to be someone they are not. If you are sure who they are, and you are over 18:
- Get a friend to accompany you.
- Always tell someone you trust about where, when and who you are meeting.
- Always meet in a public place.
If you've received an unpleasant message, or one that makes you feel uncomfortable in any way, from another user, do not reply to it.
Report it immediately to your Commanding Officer or Department Head.
No member of the Web Cadet Corps will ever ask you for bank details and
therefore should not be given out.
Never give your password to anyone, even a best friend.
If someone makes an offer that is too good to be true, then it probably is.
If you are under 18, always check with your parent or guardian before sending anyone your picture.
