- Aims of the NCO College
- To enable NCOs to become a more integrated member of the Corps.
- To build a solid base of trained NCOs within their section, and the Corps.
- Acceptance into the NCO College
- Must
be at least the rank of Leading Seaman (Navy) or equivalent and not
above Master Chief Petty Officer of the Corps (Navy) or equivalent.
- Must apply to the Senior Instructor who shall review the application.
- May have a recommendation from: Unit Senior NCO, Executive Officer, Commanding Officer or Divisional Officer.
- If the NCO is not present in a particular unit, the NCO must have their Head of Department's recommendation.
- Pre-requisite courses may be required to have been completed for certain courses.
- Expulsion from the NCOC
- Any
Instructor has the right to expel any NCO from the NCO College with
approval from the Senior Instructor and the Training Officer.
- Grounds for expulsion include, but are not limited to the following:
- Failure to comply with the Training Department (NCO College) Additional Regulations.
- Failure to comply with any other rules and regulations.
- Failure to respond to an instructor.
- Failure to notify an instructor of leave.
- Cheating on any quiz or assignments.
- Bringing the NCO College into disrepute.
- Disclosure of quiz answers or assignments to anyone else.
- Impersonating another cadet.
- Plagiarism of any work.
- Expulsion
from the NCO College will result in suspension from the NCO College for
a period of time decided by the Training Officer depending on severity.
During this time the NCO may not apply for any courses.
- The NCO College reserves the right to press formal charges if the rules and regulations are violated.
- The
NCO College reserve the right to ban application and admittance to the
NCO College for a period deemed necessary, this does not include
life-time bans.
- The NCO College reserve the right to lift a ban at anytime.
- Waiting Periods
- Upon
successful completion of an NCOC course, the cadet must wait a required
2 weeks from the date of the email they received from their Instructor
announcing their completion of the course.
- If the course is not completed to the
grade minimum, the cadet will then wait 2 weeks from the date of the
email they received from their Instructor announcing their unsuccessful
attempt.
- Under any other extenuating situations
like personal leave mid-course etc. the Senior Instructor will dictate
the date to start a new course.
- Failing Courses
- In order to pass any course in the NCOC, a minimum mark of 70% must be achieved.
- Those
fail to attain 70%, but score 50% or higher, may submit certain
assignment at the instructors discretion, which if done well, will move
the average to 70%.
- If an NCO scores below 50%, they must
retake the whole course, or a different course. They must wait 2 weeks
before attempting the course again, or starting a new course.
- When rule 2 has been enacted, the maximum course mark awarded is 70%.
- Should a cadet feel that they have been marked unfairly an academic appeal may be made to the Senior Instructor.
- The Senior Instructor's decision to uphold or reject an appeal is final.
- Creation of Courses
- Courses must be approved by Senior Instructor and Training Officer.
- Instructor will be chosen by Senior Instructor with approval from Training Officer.
- Lesson plan must be written and approved before hand.
- A course may run a maximum of 3 weeks (last week for re-testing).
- The first run of any course is probationary and Senior Instructor reserves the right to discharge the course.
- Two cadets maximum will be accepted to the first run through of any course.
- Any NCO can request a course be made.
- Discharge of Course
- SnrInst reserves the right to discharge a course, with approval from the Training Officer.
- Grounds for discharge may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lack of interest.
- Course not up to standard.
- Course lacks reason.
- Merging of Courses
- Courses can be merged if they relate enough to each other in this case the length of a course can be over-ridden.
- It has to be approved by the Senior Instructor and Training Officer.
- In this case, one Instructor can be either discharged or write another course.
- The new instructor may re-write parts of the course to lower the length.
- Passing of NCOC
- Cadet must receive a minimum mark of 70% to pass.
- Late assignments shall be docked marks according to the course Instructor's instructions.
- A Cadet will not loose marks or be penalized if they have a legitimate reason for not responding to the Instructor.
- Only the Instructor and Senior Instructor can decide if a reason is legitimate.
