What are they?
Peace Bonds are Justice Department orders which mean that:
- All involved parties are allowed no further communication or contact without first contacting the Justice Department and obtaining permission.
- Neither party is allowed to work in the same unit or department with each other; sub-departments may still be considered if the parties are separated enough from each other in their work.
- Neither party is allowed to publicly degrade or slander the other.
- Any other relevant details pertaining to the individual case.
When should they be used?
Peace Bonds will be used if two parties continuously fight or bicker with one another to no apparent end, or continuously disturb the peace or well-being of another. They may be set up at the request of either individual or at the order of the Justice Department.
How do they work?
Peace Bonds work in the same way as any other penalty and as such can be awarded following a case, mediation or in any other event where the Justice Department has been called in.
How long do they last?
The length of time that any given Peace Bond will last will depend on the individuals involved. This amount of time will be set out when the order is given.
Can Peace Bonds be removed?
The Justice Department respects the fact that the individuals involved may both feel that the Peace Bond is no longer necessary. If this is the case they should both appeal to the Justice Department and on agreement with the Justice Officer the Peace Bond can be removed.
What would happen if the Peace Bond is broken?
As with any Justice Department order this is an offence and as such it would be dealt with in the standard way for an offence.
